“Cosmetic secrets are hitting the locker rooms just as hard as the ladies room these days!”

“So do men really get facelifts?” That seems to be the holiday party question of the year for me. In my practice the answer is a resounding yes. And if the surgery is done correctly, no one ever knows unless they are gracious enough to let me show them off in a blog. Men tend to be among my happiest patients, and their percentages are growing.

This patient just turned 66 and works out daily. He is full of energy and his grand kids have trouble keeping up with him on hikes. However, years of sun damage and genetics were making him look tired when he wasn’t. He chose to have a facelift with upper and lower eyelid surgery. Two weeks later he was back at the gym. Three and a half weeks after the surgery he had a birthday party with over 50 friends.

More and more men are having cosmetic surgery with no apologies. If you have taken great care of yourself, why not have your face match your work-out body? And while results clearly make you look younger, the main benefit is looking less tired. Age for some men does not seem to be a big issue, but appearing vibrant is the key. While having a procedure may be purely fulfilling a personal goal, it may also be a way to continue competing in a competitive work and social environment. Whatever the reason, men are frequent visitors to my clinic and are happy with the results. Surgeries are popular, but men are also discovering the benefits of Botox and filler injections.
