What Is the Faces of Renewal Campaign?

The Faces of Renewal campaign is more than a charitable project—it’s an opportunity to bring healing and transformation to someone who has faced extraordinary physical or emotional challenges due to a facial condition. Each year, Dr. Vila selects one deserving recipient to receive a life-changing facial procedure at no cost, focusing on cases where financial or medical barriers might otherwise prevent access to care.

This campaign embodies the core values of compassion, artistry, and service that define Dr. Vila’s approach to facial plastic surgery. By helping individuals reclaim their confidence, Faces of Renewal aims to make a lasting difference—one face, one story, one renewal at a time.

2025 Recipient: Treating Rhinophyma

The inaugural Faces of Renewal recipient will be a patient living with rhinophyma, a severe form of rosacea that causes thickened, enlarged, and disfigured skin on the nose. This condition can lead not only to functional issues, such as difficulty breathing through the nose, but also to significant emotional distress due to its appearance.

For this year’s recipient, Dr. Vila will perform reconstructive rhinophyma surgery to remove excess tissue, restore normal nasal contours, and improve both form and function. The goal is to help the patient breathe easier, feel more comfortable in their skin, and reclaim the confidence that every person deserves.

How to Apply or Nominate Someone

We believe that everyone deserves access to compassionate care, and we welcome applications and nominations for future Faces of Renewal recipients. If you or someone you know could benefit from a transformative procedure, you can apply or nominate them for consideration. While the specific selection process may vary each year, the general steps include:

Submission

Candidates or nominators provide a brief personal story, along with photos and relevant medical background, explaining how a facial condition has affected the individual’s life.

Review

Dr. Vila and his team will review all submissions, considering factors such as medical need, potential impact, and alignment with the campaign’s mission.

Selection

One recipient will be chosen annually to receive a pro bono facial procedure. The patient will be responsible only for supplies and anesthesia fees.

The goal is to identify candidates who demonstrate resilience, strength, and a genuine need for reconstructive care—individuals whose lives can be profoundly renewed through compassionate surgical intervention.
