At Portland Face Doctor, we offer patients treatment for excessive sweating.

How is excessive sweating treated?

Excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis, can manifest as excessive underarm sweating and can be embarrassing and stressful.  Deodorants, antiperspirants and oral medications can often help, but for some the problem persists despite routine treatment.  In recent years it was discovered that Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® injected in skin containing sweat glands actually prevents sweat production – it relaxes the tiny muscles responsible for releasing sweat.  Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are now FDA approved for treatment of primary axillary hyperhidrosis, or severe underarm sweating, and is very popular with patients tired of high dry-cleaning bills during the summer.

How is the Treatment Performed?

Treatment for excessive sweating takes place right here in our office. Your Portland Face Doctor professional will map out the skin containing sweat glands in the underarm area and will administer either Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin®.  While it is advised not to participate in any strenuous activity the day of the treatment, you’ll be back to your normal daily routine immediately.

What are the Typical Results of Excessive Sweating Treatment?

Those who have struggled with excessive sweating in the underarms have reported phenomenal results after their Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin® treatment. Not only is this treatment effective, it is also long-lasting. In fact, Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® has been shown to provide relief from excess sweating for approximately four to ten months in most patients.
